Before Surgery - a reading (on YouTube)
I
spent the dying day reading poetry.
Were
this my final afternoon,
That
is how I would end it,
Listening
to the stories of others,
Wondering
what stories I might have told.

As earlier in the year, I am posting a pair poems today and an essay related to them.
You can find more background on this poem in the companion essay “Fall Equinox 2017 – Two More Short Poems” on the Noddfa Imaginings blog for essays.
Picture Notes:
ReplyDeleteEdward keeps a small note book where he writes down finished poems. For this picture we used that book, and the poem "Before Surgery". I took the book out on the porch after the sun had sank beneath the trees. That gave me a soft, but bright light. The first bunch of pictures I took made the book look like it was hanging above the camera, so I started over. This shot gives you a perspective that shows you it is in a book, and shows the whole poem. A little post processing blurred the poem on the next page and warmed the color to something more like the color of the book itself. That and a little cropping and it was done.
